By: Officer George Spindler, APD
Updated: December 7, 2012
Thursday afternoon at about 2:30, officers responded to a robbery call at a local fast food establishment in the 2400 block of Sayles Blvd. APD dispatch received notification claiming that one of the female carhops had a gun pulled on her by a driver that had placed an order. The robbery suspect was described as a white male driving a red Pontiac. Officers converged to the area but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect who had fled in the Pontiac. Officer Jimmy Woods conducted the preliminary investigation which revealed that the suspect had pulled up backwards behind the store and he placed a food order. Once the carhop delivered the food and asked for payment, the robber demanded the carhops wallet while brandishing a handgun. The carhop then ran from the incident location and the suspect fled. No property loss or injuries were reported. The suspect was described as a white male with brown hair with an approximate height of 6-feet and weight of 160 lbs. The suspect vehicle was described as a G6 model bearing no license plates. This investigation continues. If anyone has any information regarding this crime, they can call Abilene Crime Stoppers at 676-TIPS and remain anonymous.

Thursday afternoon at about 4:55, Officer Cory Valencia responded to a criminal trespass call at a business in the 4300 block of Buffalo Gap Road. APD dispatch had been notified by an employee that a male subject was detained by security personnel for allegedly trespassing. Officer Valencia's investigation revealed that the male subject had been previously warned in writing not to return to the store. The previous encounter with the subject had occurred last month. The male subject was arrested for misdemeanor criminal trespass.

Thursday night at about 10:30, Sergeant Jason Haak contacted a motorist in the 4400 block of Crawford Drive for driving at a high rate of speed near pedestrians and for another traffic violation. Sgt. Haak contacted the male driver and smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver. During this preliminary investigation, Sgt. Haak also observed the driver display indicators of intoxication. The driver conducted field sobriety tests which he performed poorly. The driver was arrested and taken to county jail where he provided breath samples. Breath samples taken revealed the driver's BAC was 0.164 and 0.156. The driver was arrested for an enhanced charge of misdemeanor DWI (Class A) based on a BAC result exceeding 0.15.
