APD, Dyess OSI Investigating Case of Child Injury

By: APD Press Release
Updated: December 7, 2012
On December 5, the Abilene Police Department received a 911 call from a residence on Dyess Air Force Base.

The call was received at 1:48 p.m. The caller indicated an 11-year-old child was found unresponsive and not breathing in her home.

Police Communications notified Dyess authorities, while also providing instructions on conducting CPR. The caller remained online with the dispatcher until the Dyess Fire Department arrived at the residence.

The child was transported to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Immediate care was provided, and thereafter the child was flown to Cook Children's Medical Hospital located in Fort Worth, TX.

Because of the nature of the call and the age of the child, Abilene Police Detectives were subsequently notified and responded to the residence. Additionally, Dyess Office of Special Investigations responded to the scene.

Abilene Police are working collaboratively with Dyess OSI to determine the nature of this child's injuries.

This ongoing investigation is still in the early stages. Abilene Police and Dyess are committed to determining exactly what happened. Once again Team Dyess has responded proactively and is actively assisting with all elements of this investigation.

More information may be released as this investigation continues.
