Veterans are conducting some special events Friday to remember the attack on Pearl Harbor 71 years ago today.

The Abilene Veterans of Foreign Wars post is hosting a special ceremony during the noon hour. It's going on at the post just outside the main gate at Dyess Air Force Base.

There is a brown bag discussion of the attack going on at the Twelfth Armored Division museum in downtown Abilene. That museum is on North Second street.

The Brownwood VFW post has scheduled a ceremony for the veterans beginning at 1-o'clock this afternoon.

The surprise attack at the navy port on Sunday morning, December 7 of 1941 brought this country into World War II with great Britain against Germany and Japan.
