"They make you feel loved, they provide a meal, they help with Christmas presents this time of year," says participant Desirae Austin.
The children here are special children. Each child has at least one parent in prison.
"It's kinda rough you know, being a single mom," explains Austin. "I feel like sometimes they need their dad to things with them, like go outside and play catch with them."
And during the holidays it doesn't get any easier.
"You wish that he was there to watch them open presents and see their smiles and everything, but it's just difficult because you're there and it's not shared with him. You know, milestones."
Today's event was designed to help families forget their problems and just enjoy the holidays.
"When they leave here they have a christian gift, clothing and a toy," says volunteer Tina Najera.
And hopefully a memory they'll never forget.
