Model Trains Open House

By: Liz Gonzales
Updated: December 8, 2012

The clubhouse is located on the 2000 block of north 2nd street, and is home to over one-thousand box cars. The trains run on multiple levels and include some of Abilene's historic buildings in the sets. The tracks and figurines took over two years to complete. November is national modern railroad month but the club chose to move the event closer to the holiday season.

"A lot of us grew up with trains at Christmas time. Our parents would put trains around the Christmas tree, and still a lot of people, that's still their tradition," says Ken Reidiger, club president.

Admission to the event was free and the fun continued on Sunday.
