The McMurry men's basketball team was able to get a victory Saturday afternoon over Incarnate Word thanks to a hot start.

Junior forward Kenny Williams was the first top put points on the board for the War Hawks on Saturday. First it was a jumper to give McMurry a 2-0 lead.

A short time later, following a steal by Takoby Jackson, Williams once again found the basket with a soft touch off the glass.

The War Hawks jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead. Then Incarnate word would hold that as the margin going into halftime. At that time McMurry led 35-29.

The same could be said for the second half until Incarnate Word's Denzel Livingston buried a three-pointer to tie the game at 46. That would be the closest the Cardinals would come to victory in this one.

A pair of three-pointer by Jackson would help hold off the Cardinals in the second half, and the War Hawks would hold on for a 76-68 victory.
