It is no news that any couple would ever want to hear, but in May of 2008, Gay Dorsey's worst fears became a reality."

"I requested that we see a Urologist, and we did that, and he diagnosed him with cancer," says Dorsey about her husband.

Married for 55 years, and with nowhere else to turn, Gay seeked help from Hendrick Hospice Care of Abilene.

"We started hospice in November, and they were wonderful. We took them like family," says Mrs. Dorsey.

For Chuck, Hendrick Hospice provided him with more than just physical care.

"Hospice was a lot of support, and he enjoyed having them here," explains Gay Dorsey.

At the side of his wife, and the folks from Hendrick Hospice, Chuck sadly passed away in May of this year.

"We just had a good life for 55 years. We had a beautiful family," sobs Dorsey.

Although each day continues to be a struggle, Mrs. Dorsey remains strong with the help of her children and grandkids.

"I am basically doing okay. I have the kids. I have my good days, and my bad, but that is to be expected," says Dorsey.
