Members of the Brownwood community will gather together to honor veterans during the holiday season as part of the annual Wreaths Across America Day on Saturday, December 15.

The United Daughters of the Confederacy, Colorado River Chapter 2655 have arranged for the VFW to conduct this year's ceremony, beginning at 11:00 A.M., at the east entrance to Greenleaf Cemetery. Seven ceremonial wreaths will be placed on the east gate to honor all soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines who served. Following the ceremony, family members of veterans, along with volunteers, will place wreaths on the graves of service members, whose relatives ordered wreaths.

In 2012, it is projected that over 400,000 wreaths will be placed nationwide, by over 150,000 volunteers, in 750 participating cemeteries.
