"It wasn't very painful at all, it was really not bad. Then I went home and at supper and felt really good the next day", says Spain.
Balloon Sinus Dilation is relatively new, and when local doctor, Jeff Braaten, heard about a superior hands-on procedure that would replace the alternative intrusive surgery, he couldn't wait to share the news.
"In the past, with traditional sinus surgery, there would always be some degree of discomfort or pain, and with this, there is really none of that", explains Dr. Braaten.
A surprising number of folks deal with some sort of chronic nasal or congestive issue, and Dr. Braaten says even small environmental changes can trigger it.
"Air within the sinus, which is just an airspace, has to be able to get into the nose and equalize what the weather is doing", Dr. Braaten tells us.
Spain recalls her health struggles.
"I was sick all the time, I had no energy, and a constant sinus headache. I did what I had to do, then I would go home and lay down", explains Spain.
Now, in just 20 minutes, after a little bit of pain killer, patients can relax in the doctor's chair and let the balloon work it's magic.
Once Spain woke up, she was able to say something she hasn't said in years.
"I can breathe through my nose!", exclaims Spain.
Now, patients, like Spain, and thousands of others, can breathe easy, knowing there is an easier way to escape sinus troubles.
And when your head feels like it's going to pop, a balloon can take care of that.
energy post surgery...And said she was good to go within hours.
