By: Officer George Spindler. APD
Updated: December 13, 2012
Wednesday afternoon at about 5:20, Officer Martin Walker responded to a shoplifter call at a business in the 1000 block of N. Judge Ely Boulevard. APD dispatch was contacted by a loss prevention employee that reported the alleged theft of property by a male subject they had detained. Officer Walker's preliminary investigation revealed that the male subject was observed selecting meat packages that the subject eventually concealed under his coat and then left the store without paying. After being contacted by loss prevention personnel, the male subject was escorted back to an office. The subject opened his coat while walking back to the office and several meat packages began falling out of the subject's coat onto the floor. A total of six meat packages with an approximate value of $111.00 was recovered. The subject was arrested for misdemeanor theft and warned not to return to the store.

Wednesday night at about 6:20, Officer Robert Brannon responded to a disturbance call at a residence in the 1700 block of N. 6 Street. APD dispatch had been contacted by several people living in the apartment complex about a disturbance. Officer Brannon located the involved apartment and contacted one of three people inside the apartment that were yelling and arguing. Officer Brannon noted that he heard the disturbance from the parking lot and he advised the residents about the reported disturbance and warned them to lower their voices. Just before Officer Brannon left the area, he heard a female subject yelling loudly again from the apartment. Officer Brannon contacted the female subject and arrested her for the disturbance. A search of her person revealed a small bag of marijuana. The subject was arrested on two misdemeanor offenses: possession of marijuana and for noise disturbance.

Wednesday night at about 10:05, Officer Darrin Ruiz responded to a theft call involving a local cab company. APD dispatch had been contacted by a company representative that reported a male patron had received cab services but that the male patron failed to pay his cab fare. Officer Ruiz contacted the cab company and learned that the male patron had received services from and back to an address in the 3700 block of Janice Lane. Once the cab returned to the known address, the male subject got out of the cab and ran behind the residence. Officer Ruiz attempted to contact residents at the involved address but nobody came to the door. The suspect's description was provided and a report for misdemeanor theft of service was taken. This investigation continues.
