Keenum Approves Of Kingsbury Hire At Tech

By: David Robinett
Updated: December 13, 2012
Kliff Kingsbury is the new head football coach at Texas Tech University, and he got the job in large part because he helped coach Johnny Manziel to the Heisman Trophy this year.

His 1st pupil, though, was former Wyile Bulldog and current member of the Houston Texans practice squad Case Keenum.

Keenum threw for over 4,000 yards in 2011 for Kingsbury at the University of Houston.

Keenum says Kingsbury is a great choice for Texas Tech.

He said, "The sky's the limit. He does a great job of knowing his personnel and being able to adapt that style of offense for  the players he's got.  He did it really well for us at Houston, and obviously, he won a Heisman Trophy there with Johnny Football. He does a great job of adapting to the players he has, and, you know, depending on what he has there at Tech, he's gonna make the right offense and make it work."

In other news from Texas Tech, even with Kingsbury in place, former ACU head coach Chris Thomsen is the interim head coach for the Red Raiders in their bowl game against Minnesota.
