Alison Victor is getting married. She's lost ten pounds and wants to keep the weight off over the holidays.

"There's a lot of temptation. It's really hard to not have that cookie or that piece of pie," Victor says.

Her nutritionist is helping her enjoy the season.. without packing on the pounds. Dietician Robin Kaiden has a few helpful suggestions, like at the buffet, steer clear of foods loaded with cream, butter and gravy. And don't have a little bite of every food. Just have a couple of your favorites.

Some nutritionists recommend eating a handful of nuts or half a banana before going to a holiday party in order to avoid more tempting foods when you get there. Protein, fat and fiber take longer to digest so it will last you throughout the party.
Also don't skip meals.. thinking you'll save all your calories for the big party. And another big no-no don't start your celebrating with alcohol.

"Alcohol decreases inhibitions, which can make you go off the plan," Kaiden says.

Kaiden says don't beat yourself up if you have one bad night, just try to be healthy the next day.

Enjoying a taste of the holiday, without over doing it.
