It's been four days of heartache for the nation. Memorials of stuffed animals and letters have popped up all over. Hundreds have gathered for candlelight vigils to honor those lost Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary.

And abilene is no different. Thanks to two women.

"After hearing the news and taking it all in after hearing about it all day, I was just like, I'd really like to do something for the community," said Wendy Bramblett.

Wendy and her friend Nicole are planning a candlelight vigil to bring abilene together during this time of sorrow and fear.

"As a community, I'd like us to come together, and be there for each other," Wendy explained. "And just help people who are struggling dealing with this."

The stage at rose park will serve as a memorial, with pictures and 26 candles to represent each child and teacher lost.

"I can show them individually. Then just going 'this group of people were murdered.' It's a way to go, 'This person and this person' and each person," Wendy said.

Allowing for everyone to honor each victim while coming together as a community.

The vigil will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm at Oscar Rose Park. There will be some candles provided, but every is encouraged to bring their own.
