APD: A Quick Call for Help

Tuesday afternoon at about 3:20, Officer Adrian Slaymaker responded to a theft call at a business located in the 1300 block of Sayles Boulevard. APD dispatch received notification from a male victim alleging a known female subject had stolen his personal belongings and that he was a passenger in the car that the subject was driving. Officer Slaymaker's investigation revealed that the male victim alleged he was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by a known female subject. The victim stated that while he went inside the business, the known female drove away with his belongings still inside her vehicle. Alleged stolen property included approximately $2,150 in clothing, as well as additional items. Total loss is approximately $2,600.00. A report for felony theft was taken and this investigation continues.

Tuesday night at about 7:20, Officers Adrian Slaymaker and Robert Brannon responded to a shoplifter call at a business in the 4300 block of Southwest Drive. APD dispatch had been notified by a loss prevention employee that two male subjects had been detained for the alleged theft of alcoholic beverages. The preliminary investigation revealed that one of the male subjects was a juvenile. Both subjects were found to be complicit in the theft. The incident involved alcoholic beverages being selected and placed in a shopping basket. Then the subjects passed all points of sale without paying for said alcohol. Both subjects were charged with the offense of misdemeanor theft. Approximately $150 of alcohol beverages was recovered. The adult male subject was arrested and the juvenile was taken to Juvenile Detention.

Tuesday night at about 8:50, Officer Andrew Valdez responded to a disturbance call at a residence in the 2000 block of South Fifth Street. APD dispatch received notification that a female victim had been assaulted by the victim's boyfriend and that the victim needed help quickly. Officer Valdez contacted the involved parties and learned that the female victim had been assaulted by her boyfriend and that the assault involved the victim being choked. The victim claimed she could not breath during the incident because her airway was restricted. Visible indicators of the allegation were visible on the victim's neck. The victim refused medical transport. The male subject was arrested for felony assault family violence.
