Police officers from all over the country, and here in Abilene, are helping grant the dying wish of a terminally ill child In Virginia.

6-year-old Nathan Norman was diagnosed with brain cancer three years ago and his prognosis isn't good.

Like many little boys, his heroes are police officers and firefighters, so his dying wish is to collect as many cards, letters and patches from first responders as he can.

When several Abilene police officers heard the story, they couldn't help but join in.

"Anytime of the year, but especially this time of the year, a caring community ought to come together and show the kind of graciousness we can afford for someone we don't even know," remarks Jeff Hogue, APD.

Dozens of patches, coins and cards have been sent over from APD.

Police and firemen from all over the nation are responding to Nathan's wish, with several even making the trip to Virginia to visit him in the hospital.
