It's a White Christmas for the Big Country

It's been an especially frigid Christmas in the Big Country.

Snow flurries blew into town this morning, leaving a light layer on the ground, in trees and on cars.

There was less than an inch of snow in the Key City, but that didn't seem to matter to many people who were celebrating Christmas at home with family, especially for those seeing it for the first time.

"I've never had a white Christmas, I've always wished for a white Christmas and its always a dream to see," said Maria Ruiz, who lives in Abilene, "you always see it in the movies but you never see it in reality i just thought you know  finally a dream come true to have a white Christmas."

Folks saw snow all over the Big Country, especially in areas like Jones Co.

It was truly bittersweet for travelers, many had to cut their trip short.

"I'm going home about four hours early the snow is headed my direction so headed home to try to get there before its too late," said Penny Mercer.
