Citizens are urged to recycle whatever they can from Christmas trees, both live and artificial, to wrapping paper and cardboard boxes.
From December 26 through January 9, citizens can drop off live Christmas trees at three locations:
- Environmental Recycling Center (ERC), 2209 Oak Street
- Buffalo Gap Road & Rebecca Lane neighborhood recycling drop-off site, under the water tower
- Vacant lot north of KRBC/KTAB TV studios on Hartford Road. Entry must be made from Hartford Road.
The Christmas trees will be ground into mulch that will be available free to the public, on a first-come, first served basis, starting February 3 at the Environmental Recycling Center (ERC).
Artificial trees are also accepted at the ERC.
The ERC is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
