Man Arrested for Criminally Negligent Homicide after Indictment

A Brown County man was indicted for criminally negligent homicide related to a two-vehicle accident that occurred in August.

Caleb Coronado, 21, of Bangs, was booked into Brown County Jail on Wednesday and was released on $35,000 bond. The charge stems from the August 20 accident in the 1700 block of Austin Avenue where 21-year-old Jose Guadalupe Martinez of Brownwood was killed.

Details of the indictment were not available Thursday morning, but Brownwood Police officials said that the indictment is based on witness statements and Texas Department of Public Safety measurements that indicated Coronado was not driving properly when the accident occurred.

The driver-side door of a Mercury four-door passenger car driven by Martinez was struck by the front-end of the older model Chevy pickup driven by Coronado.
