Ice on Road Leads to Early Morning Accident

By: BCHP News Staff
Updated: December 27, 2012
One person was hurt in a traffic accident in southwest Abilene Thursday morning after they lost control of the car they were driving on a patch of ice.

It happened about 8 o'clock in the 4800 block of South 14 street.

A sprinkler had been left on and the water from the sprinkler turned to ice.

Below freezing temperatures mean that any water on the streets or roads could become treacherously slick.

TxDOT sent out a press release earlier this month encouraging businesses along major roadways not to water on when overnight temperatures are expected to be below freezing.
