The Abilene Fire Department got a strange confession.

A police report shows, 18-year-old Steve Allen Gustavson walked into the office of a fire investigator and confessed to breaking in a vehicle, then trying to set it on fire.

Gustavson told the investigator that he broke into a vehicle on the 5200 block of Highway 277 back on the 11th of this month, and once inside started lighting paper on fire in the center console.

He was arrested and charged with arson and burglary of a vehicle.
