Bond Underwriter Possibly Investigating Stephens County Sheriff Incident

By: BCHP News Staff
Updated: December 28, 2012
Sheriff-elect, Billy Wade, in Stephens County is set to take the oath of office at the beginning of the year after county commissioners approved his bond and oath at the last Stephens County commissioners meeting.

The issue had previously been tabled for a few weeks.

Wade was involved in a bizarre incident at the Breckenridge golf course where he may have been pepper sprayed and tased by a female Breckenridge police officer while he was intoxicated.

Because of that event, what the the city is now calling, "The Wade Incident", KLXK Radio in Breckenridge is reporting that the bonding company out of Chicago is now investigating after they found out about the incident.

The goal of the investigation is to see if they still want to underwrite Wade's bond before Wade takes the oath of Stephens County sheriff.

It has not been otherwise confirmed that Western Surety Company is in fact investigating, but more information will follow as it becomes available.
