It was a day that shook the nation

Nats

The killing of over 2 dozen elementary students and teachers left many people in disbelief and wanting to do something for the newtown, connecticut victims.

"i kind of felt i should do something about it. Maybe a card or something."

After speaking with her supervisor, Dyess Airman First Class Shawnelle Mckee decided to hold a banner signing in conjunction with a b-1 tour, open to friends and family of the base.

"it brought people together. It's a good way to show that our community is coming together even outside of our state, that we can show love all across the u.S."

People of all ages

"Okay,my name is n-o-a-h."

Left prayers, "Lots and lots of love going your way. I hope your lives may be filled with joy. God bless you all."

And heartfelt messages, "May the souls above rest in peace and the souls below find their own peace."

What started out as a simple idea, turned out to be a mass pouring of support, that really warmed McKee's heart.

"It turned out to be way bigger than I imagined and it just really made me happy."

Even though many of the people who signed the banner will never meet those who read their messages, they know deep down inside, their kind gesture, in a time like this, will never be forgotten.
