LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball
team fell behind in the first half and could not recover in a 68-55 loss on
Sunday afternoon in the D3hoops Classic at the South Point Arena in Las
Vegas.
The closest the
Cowboys would get was 63-55 in the second half after trailing for double digits
most of the game. The Eagles hit three straight 3-pointers midway through the
first half to break open an 11-11 tie and take a 20-11 lead. HSU never led the
rest of the way.
Jeff Heiden led four
Eagles into double figures with 17 points. Braden Tice had 13 points, Cale
Zuiker had 11 points and Lucas Morrissey had 10 points.
The Cowboys struggled
from the field hitting just 21-of-56 shots and went 12-of-26 at the free throw
line.
Titus Mims led the
Cowboys with 21 points and was the only Cowboy to score in double figures.
HSU is now 8-3 on the year and
UWL is 9-3. The Cowboys will play at LeTourneau on Saturday in ASC
play.
