Wade Becomes Stephens County Sheriff

New Stephens County Sheriff Billy Wade officially took office early Tuesday, amid continuing questions regarding a November incident in which Wade, then a Breckenridge Police Officer, was in an altercation with another BPD officer.

Wade told BigCountryHomepage.com that he has no comment on the incident, and is instead excited to begin work as Sheriff.

Sheriff Wade took over the reigns from outgoing sheriff Dan Young, whom he defeated in the November general election.

On Monday, Young told BigCountryHomepage.com that five deputies planned to resign Monday night. However, it appears at least some of the deputies have remained with the department under Sheriff Wade.
