APD: Man Runs from Police after Found Shouting in Street

Friday morning at about 12:20 a.m., Lieutenant Craig Jordan observed a male subject in the roadway yelling profanities in the 500 block of Poplar Street. When Lt. Jordan attempted to contact the subject, the subject ran from him. Officer Michael Garcia responded to assist and the male subject was contacted a short distance later. Officer Garcia's investigation revealed that the subject had the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. During this investigation, the subject became aggressive and belligerent. The subject was arrested for two misdemeanor offenses: evading detention and public intoxication.
Friday morning at about 1:35 a.m., Sergeant Eric Katona and Officer Michael Garcia contacted a motorist in the 600 block of Grape Street for a traffic violation. When Officer Garcia contacted the male driver, he smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver. The driver conducted field sobriety tests which he performed poorly. The driver was arrested and taken to county jail where he provided breath samples. Breath samples taken revealed the driver's BAC was 0.209 and 0.204. The driver was arrested for an enhanced charge of misdemeanor DWI (Class A) based on a BAC result exceeding 0.15.
