Police have arrested 22-year-old Texas Tech student, Austin Hasten, and charged him with murder in the death of a woman found inside a smoldering apartment.

Police say firefighters found the woman, who's identity has not been released, inside when they went in to put out the blaze.

Eyewitnesses say Hasten walked up to the scene Friday night, apparently intoxicated, and with blood on his hands.

Witnesses say Hasten then attacked a police officer and tried to steal his gun before being wrestled to the ground and taken into custody.

Hasten is being held in the Lubbock County Jail on a $3 million dollar bond.
