Out of the 20 children who were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary school, 12 were girls and 8 were Girl Scouts.

Here in Abilene, 25 Girl Scouts are doing what they can to put a smile on someone's face.

"We are making charms and writing notes and donating teddy bears to the sandy hook children," says Kristen Kilpatrick, a 12-year-old Cadette.

It may be a small gesture, but it's definitely heart-felt.

"We pray for you everyday, we love you, we're praying for you every day."

To these young ladies, the girls killed weren't strangers, they were sisters.

"It's just like a sisterhood. So if anyone is bullying you or if you had anything that happened to you, Girl Scouts is always here for you," says Kilpatrick.

"We all grow really close as a family. We love each other, like a lot. And we just know we're always there for each other," explains Chloe Batten, a 13-year-old Cadette.

They're also hoping their gesture inspires the current Girls Scouts at Sandy Hook to keep moving.

"Girl Scouts is meant to help people and if they continue girl scouts that means there's more people helping others in the world," says Rhiannon Taff, a 12-year-old Cadette.

Sometimes the world seems enormous and the presence of a small teddy bear can make all the difference.

"Hopefully they'll realize that these will always carry the hearts of the Girl Scouts that gave them to us," says Taff.

And hopefully they'll look at them and smile.
