Updated: January 7, 2013
A total of 17 teams in the Big Country are ranked in the top 25 in the state according to the coaches. Seven of them are boys teams, and the girls make up ten teams ranked among the best in the state.

Wylie and Jim Ned are the only two schools to have both teams ranked in the top 25. The Wylie boys team made it into the top ten in Class 3A, and the Lady Bulldogs also locked up a spot in the top 25.

Both teams for Jim Ned are not only in the top 25, they're also in the top ten. The Indians (#6) are ranked the highest of the two, and the Lady Indians come in at number ten in Class 2A.

That class is where the Big Country is leaving it's mark this season. In girls basketball, the Merkel Lady Badgers (#1) are ranked the highest of any team in this weeks polls. The Comanche Maidens (#5), Cisco Lady Loboes (#7), and Brady Lady Bulldogs (#8) also made the top 25 in Class 2A.

A total of four girls teams in Class A were ranked in the top 25 this week. The Goldthwaite Lady Eagles (#18) are the only team that calls the Big Country home to be ranked in division one. Meanwhile the Baird Lady Bears (#8), Cross Plains Lady Buffaloes (#23), and Roby Lady Lions (#24) also made it into the top 25 in division two.

In the boys polls this week, four teams were ranked in the top ten in their respected divisions. Besides Wylie and Jim Ned, the Breckenridge Buckaroos (#8) in class 2A and Eula Pirates (#4) in Class A Div. II made the top ten.

The Munday Moguls (#20) also made the top 25 in Class A Div. I. Zephyr (#12) and Throckmorton (#21) in Class A Div. II round out the teams in the Big Country to make the cut this week.
