Updated: January 9, 2013
Texas Comptroller Susan Combs said today that state sales tax revenue in December was $2.17 billion, up 9.4 percent compared to December 2011.

"Strong sales tax collections continue in most major economic sectors in Texas," said Combs. "The strongest growth was from business spending-driven sectors including oil and natural gas, manufacturing and construction."

January sales tax allocations statewide  totaled $530.8 million, up 7.3 percent compared to January 2012.

Despite a rise in sales tax revenue across the state, however, Abilene had $2.9 million in sales tax revenue payments this month, dropping 22.61 from a year ago.
