Updated: January 9, 2013
Hendrick Medical Center is implementing a new policy when hiring new employees.

Effective March 1, Hendrick will no longer hire anyone who uses any type of nicotine product.

Hendrick is joining a growing number of Texas hospitals that do not hire tobacco users.

The move is meant to provide a good example of healthy living to the community.

Applicants who do use tobacco will be encouraged to quit tobacco and can re-apply in six months.
