The Abilene High Lady Eagles are right in the thick of the District 2-5A playoff race.

The Lady Eagles beat Odessa High on Tuesday to improve to 6-3 in district play.

Head coach Laura Lange took over the program this year from Brent Palmer, and she has the program looking good.

Lange and the players like the direction the Lady Eagles program is headed in, right now.

"The biggest step for our kids was believing that they could do it, and then giving them to tools they needed to be successful. So we are finally starting to put those together and, you know, they are enjoying it right now. At the start, you know, my kids came up  and said, 'Man, it is really fun winning,' and so i said, 'This is what I'm telling you. Practice is so painful, but winning is so much fun that it's worth every minute of it," says Head Coach Laura Lange.

The Lady Eagles continue district play tomorrow night over in Odessa against Permian. It is the 1st game of a doubleheader. The boys tip at 7:30.
