Home Daycares in Abilene May Now Accept More Children

By: BCHP News Staff
Updated: January 11, 2013
Abilene home daycare owners can now take care of more children in their home.

A change to the city's childcare ordinance now allows up to twelve children; that's the same number allowed by state government regulators.

The maximum limit in the city was six children, but the city ordinance was changed to be in line with the state.

All requests for a home daycare operation needs city council approval.

Council members agreed this would give people a chance to voice concerns and keep decisions about the centers closer to home.
