Last night his mother awoke to the sound of terror.
"She was hollering that the kitchen was on fire. So i told her I said, 'stop playing with me,'" says Mrs. Ferguson.
So she ran to the kitchen and opened the door.
"I could see the orange glow from the fire so I slammed the door shut," she says.
The fire began in the kitchen, which was an addition to the house. From there it spread to a bedroom and in only a matter of an hour and a half, the entire house was engulfed in flames.
"We just sat out here and watched as it burned," says Mrs. Ferguson.
To her family, this isn't just any house.
"This house has been in our family for 30 years. My husband grew up here, my niece, my nephew," she explains.
To her son Andrew, it's about the memories that aren't going to happen.
"What makes me more worried is that my son isn't going to get the same things i got when i was younger," he says.
Today is his son's second birthday. Instead of celebrating, they're looking at the remains of their memories.
"These were his first shoes home from the hospital and now he's two today."
Although they weren't left with much, what remains is priceless.
"My babies made it out so nobody was hurt. Everything else is just belongings," says Mrs. Ferguson.
From here, they will re-build, together.
