Robotics is used as a resource for teaching S.T.E.M. skills, that is science, technology, engineering and math.

There were robot competitions as well as an invention contest.

Students were encouraged to use their imagination and some of the results were pretty creative, from a recycle robot, to a quarterback robot all the way to a pancake flipper.

"It's a lot of fun. My dad specializes in graphic design and I like to design things, I guess I kinda of got it from him," says DerekJones.

The winners of today's regional competition will move on to represent their area in the state competition in Deer Park in April.
