ABILENE - Baskets couldn't have come much easier and more frequently for the Abilene Christian women's basketball team Saturday night at Moody Coliseum as the Wildcats throttled Southwestern Adventist, 108-21, for the largest margin of victory in school history.

The previous record of 80 points was set in a 122-42 win over Howard Payne in November 1995.

The Wildcats shot .506 from the field (.378 from 3-point range) in improving to 10-3 on the season and in the process set a pair of single-game records with 17 3-pointers on 45 attempts.

ACU's 17 treys were its most since sinking 16 vs. East Central on March 2, 2004 and its 45 attempts were its most since putting up 37 earlier this week at Texas Woman's.

The Wildcats tonight also surrendered its fewest number of points since Texas-Arlington scored only 19 during the 1972-73 campaign. SWA scored 12 points in the first and half just nine in the second.

Renata Marquez led all scorers with 25 points and hit the three pointer that broke the school record with 22 seconds remaining. A layup by Paige Parliament with 2:03 to go put the Wildcats above the 100-point mark for the first time in regulation since their 104-95 win vs. A&M-Commerce during the 2008-09 season.

Parliament scored 10 points in 16 minutes off the bench and was one of five Wildcats to reach double-figures along with Marquez, Mackenzie Lankford (15), Whitney West (12) and Kynzie Newman (15).

Lankford also totaled two team highs with eight rebounds and seven assists, while Marquez had five assists and six steals.

ACU jumped out to a 25-0 lead before Southwestern Adventist could even make its first basket at the 10:04 mark - a jumper by Olga Vaiangina - and then pushed its advantage to 32-5 at the third media timeout following a fast-break layup by Newman.

Coming out of that stoppage, the Wildcats connected on 7 of its next 12 shots in going up 48-12 and soon after eclipsed the 50-point threshold on back-to-back layups by Parliament and Emily Miller.

Marquez led all first-half scorers with 14 points. Lankford had six rebounds and four assists to go with eight points.

ACU's 52 points were its most in a half since netting 53 in the second half last Saturday vs. Cameron. The Wildcats broke their season high with 56 second-half points.

The Wildcats scored the first 26 points of the second half on 11-17 shooting in taking a 60-point lead at 72-12. SWA didn't hit its first basket until there was 11:24 remaining. The Lady Knights' second basket came at 7:31.

The loss dropped the Lady Knights' season record to 3-7.

The Wildcats return to action Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. vs. Incarnate Word. ACU head coach Julie Goodenough needs just one more victory to attain 300 in her collegiate career.
