Update: DPS Trooper Still Recovering after Son Hits Car by Accident

A Breckenridge-based DPS trooper is recovering from injuries in a Fort Worth hospital after a wreck Sunday night.

According to DPS, 64-year-old trooper Bob Sims was heading north on Highway 67 toward Graham around 7:30 Sunday night and was being followed by his son, daughter-in-law and wife in another car to headed to dinner.

On the way, Sims saw a violator heading south, so he pulled a u-turn to go after them and that's when his son's car hit the patrol car on the driver's side.

Sims was taken by Care Flight to a Fort Worth hospital.

He's now recovering from a broken pelvis.

His son and daughter-in-law were treated and released, while his wife, Linda, remains in a Stephens County hospital.

We have few details at this point but according to the Breckenridge American, the two-vehicle crash happened around 8:15 Sunday night on state Highway 67.
 
Trooper Bob Sims was in his patrol car and was making a u-turn when he was hit by another car -- apparently driven by his son.

Sims was airlifted to a Fort Worth hospital with injuries. There's no word on the condition of his son or others involved in the wreck at this point.
