Local Rains Give Wheat Crops Good Start

By: BCHP News Staff
Updated: January 14, 2013
Local agriculture experts say last week's rain will give the winter wheat crop enough moisture to get a good beginning.

The system brought more than an inch of rain to most of the central part of the Big Country, and significantly more to the heartland the eastern part of the area.

The agriculture experts say the rain will bring the dormant wheat seeds to life in the next few weeks, but the crop will still need winter rain to be a success.

The crop will be finished and ready for harvest in late May or early June.
