Trial for a man who escaped from the Taylor County jail was set to start Monday, but the suspect plead out.

Dustin Bates plead guilty to a drug charge for which he will serve 15 years.

The escape charge will be dropped.

In November of 2011, Bates climbed a fence at the jail to get out.

He then stole a car from the State Supported Living Center and led police on a high-speed chase.

Police captured him at loop 322 and Interstate 20.

Bates is currently serving a 48-month prison sentence in federal prison.
