Both the Eagles and the Cougars have been up and down in District play this year.
Both teams have 4 wins and 4 loses, and they are tied with Amarillo Tascosa for 4th place in District 2-5A.
For the 1st time in a while, the Crosstown Showdown will have an impact on the playoff race.
"We're just glad it's a meaningful game, you know, you get this time of year and it can be one of those games where it didnt mean much, but it means a whole lot to both of us. Im sure these guys will be ready to play and I know Abilene High's will." Says Cooper Head Coach Marc Case.
"Well the toughest thing, Us, Cooper, and Tascosa all have the same record, plus it's the Crosstown Rival so there is that added element to it. But really, like what the kids have been saying too, our approach is this is one more step to where we what to be," said Eagles' coach Brian Woodard.
The Abilene High Eagles and the Cooper Cougars play the Crosstown Showdown Tuesday night at McMurry.
It's the 1st meeting for the boys. The girls played earlier this season with Abilene High coming out on top.
