Abilene High and Cooper met at McMurry for the Basketball version of the Crosstown Showdown.

The boys meeting for the 1st time this season and both teams enter at 4-4 in district play.

The Eagles leading in the 2nd half.

Brennan Francis dribbles inside the lane and gets the jumper to fall to give the Eagles a 40-30 lead.

Cooper now trailing by 8. Chuck Gilliard on the fast break. The layup doesn't quite go in, but Javon Banks is there to clean it up and cut the lead to 6.

Then Gilliard here, dribbles, shoots the fade away, and that's another Cougar basket making it 40-36.

Cooper trying their best to close the gap and take the lead. This buck by  Kenneth Collins helps.
But the Eagles offense was on fire. Gabriel Chacon drains the three as the Eagles go on to win this one 65-52.

The Eagles remain in 4th place in district. Cooper falls to 4-5.
