By: Officer George Spindler, APD
Updated: January 16, 2013
Tuesday afternoon at about 2:25, Officer Jim Craft responded to a criminal mischief call at a residence in the 700 block of Palm Street. The reporting party notified APD dispatch that his vehicle was damaged over night while he was away from the residence. Damage to the vehicle, that consists mainly of dents to various locations, is estimated at approximately $3,000. The damage appears to have been done by someone kicking the vehicle. The victim is willing to press charges and this investigation continues.

Tuesday afternoon at about 2:55, Officer John Lopez answered a call for service involving a forgery allegation. A reporting party alleged that a known suspect was writing checks on a closed account at two local grocery stores. The dollar value on these bad checks is approximately $288. A felony forgery case was taken and this investigation continues.

Wednesday morning at about 3:50 a.m., Officer Andrew Valdez contacted a motorist in the 3000 block of Pine Street for a traffic violation. A K-9 officer assisted on this traffic stop. During the investigation, the K-9 alerted on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics. A male passenger was searched by Officer Valdez. Inside the jacket this passenger was wearing, Officer Valdez located a plastic bag containing a small quantity of marijuana. The male subject was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

This dog stuff is getting out of hand and police officers nationwide are using dogs illegally to stomp on people's 4th amendment rights. Police are even bring their kids pet dogs to perform "searches" . They walk the dog around the car to a place where the drive cannot see what is going on and then sing out "He Hit!" The dog did nothing. In other cases, the dogs are trained to "Hit" on command. This is a traitorous act in my opinion and cops that allow this on their traffic stops are no better than hoodlums, thieves, and con artist. It is time for this phony dog stuff to stop.
