Wal-Mart Offering Jobs to Veterans

Finding a job for veterans after serving overseas just got a little bit easier thanks to Wal-Mart.

After the White House pushed businesses to hire more veterans, Wal-Mart is promising to hire any returning veteran who has been honorably discharged in the last year.

The retail giant says it plans to hire as many as 100,000 veterans in the next five years with jobs in the store and even in the corporate office.

The Veterans Service Offices in Abilene says that this is a huge help for military members who are coming back and adjusting to their normal lives by making it easier to find a job.

"These returning veterans, they're trying to transition back into civilian life and one of the first things that they need is employment," emphasizes Veteran Service Director, Jimmy Defoor. "And in Abilene, as is in many places, employment is pretty tough to find right now."

The new hiring push will kick off this Memorial Day.
