The housing market in the Key City is staying strong.

Sales from the entirety of 2012 rose 18 percent compared to 2011, including the month of December, which is a month that generally sees slower home sales. In 2012.

Realtors say there was an average of 4 homes sold per day, which is up 14 percent compared to 2011, and a lot of it has to do with Abilene's economy.

"Our economy has been pretty stable in Abilene," notes Dave Dalzell, President of AAR. "The rest of the country has had some hard times. Some of our market segments have had some tough times and we feel like we're building on a very strong economy."

Realtors are expecting the numbers to stay higher in the next year with an increase in sales in the summer.
