16 Big Country basketball teams were mentioned in this week's TABC Top 25, but only 1 of those is undefeated and ranked number 1.

The Merkel Lady Badgers are rolling as we hit the back stretch of the regular season.

They are 27 and oh so far in the 2012-2013 season and they are rolling over their opponents in district play. It's been a good run, so far.

They are focused on finishing the race.

"What's worked for us this year, and the past couple years, is our defense. We can usually hang our hat on the fact that we'll usually get out and play defense," said head coach Clay Barnett. "It's allowed us to win a lot of basketball games."

"We like really love our teammates, and we get along really well as a team. I think that really works well when you want to win games because you have to work well as a team. And of course when you have such an awesome coach, those two together is kind of a big advantage," said Allison Szabo.

The Lady Badgers finish off the 1st half of district play on Friday night. They are at home to take on Breckenridge at 6:30. The boys game starts at 8.
