High School Junior ROTC Units Both Receive Highest Rating

By: Press Release
Updated: January 18, 2013
The Air Force Junior ROTC units at both Abilene High School and Cooper High School earned the highest rating attainable during unit inspections and evaluations held in December.

The instructors and cadets were given an overall unit assessment score of "Exceeds Standards" by a representative from the Headquarters Air Force Junior ROTC.

Col. Matthew G. Anderer, national director of the Air Force JROTC, informed the two units of their outstanding rating in a letter received this week.

"The instructors are highly dedicated, and create a dynamic and supportive learning environment in and out of the classroom," Col. Anderer stated in the letter. "The cadets displayed exemplary pride, and their extensive participation in numerous school and community service projects is particularly impressive."

Instructors at AHS are Col. Al Dunlap and Chief Master Sgt. Paul Washinsky, while Col. Steve Shinkle and Master Sgt. Ron Deos serve as instructors at CHS.
