Actors to Re-Enact WWII Battle at Local Museum

Museum tours of a World War II battle will take place Saturday in Abilene.

Two uniformed re-enactors will tell the story of the WWII Battle of Herrlisheim.

One will be dressed as an American soldier, and the other will be a German soldier.

Each will describe battle scenes that are depicted in dioramas throughout the museum.

At the actual battle, the 12th Armored Division fended off the advancing German soldiers.

"There has never been a comprehensive picture of the battle put together," says American re-enactor William Lenches, "so our living history interpreters are going to be telling the story, both from the American point of view, and we are also going to have one German re-enactor talking about the German techniques, tactics, and equipment."

The museum is located at 1289 North Second street in downtown Abilene, and tickets cost $2 for adults.
