Brownwood Chamber Luncheon

The unemployment rate is lower than the state of Texas and sales taxes trends are right as they should be.

With the new soccer complex being built, business should boom.

"When outsiders come and they want to know whether they're going to do business here, they want to see a quality place to live. New sport facilities for our children are a great investment," says Mayor Haynes.

For the people, it's something that will improve their own quality of life.

"It's obvious that it's a little worn from wear and I really like the idea of seeing the city invest in their own complex like they have the baseball fields," says Karina Daniel.

But as usual, the talk of the day moved to the city's water supply.

"We have historically been blessed because we've had water, we need to make sure we maintain that blessing," says Mayor Haynes.

The proposed plan is that the city builds a water reuse plant that recycles waste water.

"Well frankly, I think that it's a great idea. Water is a precious resource that if we don't have it, we don't have a quality of life," says Robert Porter.

Although others weren't as excited about the plan, they were still on board with faith.

"When they start throwing around the term 'toilet water' you obviously, that prompts you to do a little research but like I said, I have full faith in the supervisors behind the scenes," says Daniel.

Mayor Haynes was even willing to drink water that had a 50/50 chance of being water from the waste treatment plant.

"If I die, don't build the plant," he says.

So far, so good.
