The NFL's Effect on Businesses

"I grew up with football, four brothers, you kind of get into the game," says Claudia Merrick.
"I've been a 49ers fan since I was five, so I'll never change," says J.W. Harper.

The American game represents something different to everyone.

"Togetherness, having fun with your family and friends, getting together enjoying a good game, " says Merrick.

"It's my way to get away from September till it's over," says Harper."The challenge of it. Seeing all the different teams, who starts off hot and who ends up on top," says Kirby Shadle.

When it's all over, it's still difficult for many fans to move on to another sport.

"No, nothing like football, I love football" says Merrick.

"Well i mean, I watch baseball but most of the time I just concentrate on football, even in the off season," says Harper.

This intense loyalty creates a problem for restaurants that thrive on NFL fans.

"It definitely dies down after football season just because, there's not that much excitement, nothing to look forward to on a Sunday afternoon," says employee trainer Meagan Grant.

And NFL Sunday's aren't just for the fans.

"I would look forward to Sundays, just to come in and work a Sunday morning and have it be busy," says Grant.

During the regular season, on Sundays the restaurant seats double the customers of any other day.

"It's good to have a little break every now and then, but I dread just because it dies down so much at the end of it," says Grant.

But don't worry, come September the NFL fan will be back.
