Reminder: Cattle Baron to Host Vets Best Friend Fundraiser Tuesday

By: Press Release
Updated: January 22, 2013
Doug Brown, owner of Abilene's Cattle Baron Cafe, is opening his doors wide on January 22 to help raise funds for a new foundation, Vets Best Friend.

Vets Best Friend (VBF) is a non-profit organization that provides much-needed support and service to our veterans through a unique program designed to train VBF funded service dogs.

The dogs provided to local vets by this foundation are rescued from the Abilene community's homeless animals.

For every 100,000 soldiers who leave the military per year, 23,000 returning (and existing) vets are taking their own lives.

Vets Best Friend's founder, Gregor Heise, a combat vet, knows all too well the difficulties and challenges facing veterans returning to civilian life. His passion for helping our veterans is infectious. So much so that veterans, patriots, and dog-lovers nationwide are quick to wrap their arms around this foundation's mission to save lives, and help our veterans realize a better quality of life upon their return.

Gregor, and his service dog, Max Pit, are excited to meet you, along with the VBF team!

The event will take place at the Cattle Baron Cafe located on South First on Tuesday, January 22 for lunch and dinner
