Rangers Agree to Terms David Murphy

Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced today that outfielder David Murphy has agreed to terms on a one-year contract for the 2013 season. Per team policy, no terms were disclosed.
                                               
With Murphy's agreement, all Rangers eligible for salary arbitration have now agreed to terms for 2013.
 
Murphy, 31, set career highs in nearly every offensive category in 2012 while starting 125 games.  He batted .304 with 15 home runs and 61 RBI in 147 games overall.  Murphy ranked among American League leaders in on-base percentage (6th, .380) and batting average (10th) in his first season to qualify for league leader status.  He topped the Rangers in on-base percentage, was second in batting, third in intentional walks (7), fourth in steals (10), and fifth in walks (54).  He also had the league's seventh-best batting average with runners scoring position at .347.
 
The Texas native played at Baylor and was selected by Boston in the first round (17th overall) of the 2003 June draft.  Murphy was acquired by Texas in a four-player trade with Boston on July 31, 2007.
